Industrial-Grade Locks

There are several types of locks that you can use to secure the door of your storage unit but the best ones that you can get for our facilities are industrial-grade cylinder locks or disc locks.

Cylinder locks are locks that are built in to a storage unit much like the locks on your home and are specifically keyed. These locks are strike-proof, drill-proof and pick-proof because they do not protrude from the storage door and are specifically designed for the doors we have available.

Keys for units secured with cylinder locks are issued when you sign a contract.

Disc locks are specifically designed for storage units to make your unit more secure. The shackle for a disc lock is very thick and doesn't protrude out far enough to get bolt cutters around it. Most are made with heavy-duty, stainless steel and are strike-proof, drill-proof and pick-proof. Breaking a disc lock requires a lot of time and effort and often deters would-be thieves from breaking into your unit.

These locks typically cost a little more than a regular padlock but are worth it to provide you with the comfort of knowing your belongings are safe and secure.

Other Types of Locks You Could Use But Aren't Recommended For Securing Storage Units

Standard / Combination Padlocks — the most common and most affordable of all locks. They are usually made of steel, bronze, copper or a combination of all three. They come in key and combination varieties. These locks are not recommended for securing a storage unit.
